On November 21st, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office held their 4th Annual Stuff the Squad Food Drive in Lexington Park. SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties was able to donate multiple boxes of a variety of canned foods, baby formula/food and diapers. On April 23, 2020 SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties techicians and helpers spent the day traveling to multiple local Volunteer fire houses donating their time of cleaning and sanitizing their trucks and living quarters. We have great support for our local heroes and cannot thank them enough for all that they do for our community.  

Our owner Sherry and Marketing Support Coordinator spent many days working on sewing hand-made masks so that we, SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties, could donate them back out to our community. We were about to donate over one hundred masks back out to the community and do our part as a local business to help flatten the curve of COVID-19.

This family came down to their basement after a weekend filled with heavy rain fall to their floors being covered with a layer of water after their sump pump battery failed. Luckily for them our 24 hour emergency call technicians were able to get out there right away and start extracting the water.

This year we named our tree, Olde Blue to represent St. Mary's Sheriffs Office as the oldest sheriffs office in the country, where we later donated our tree to. Our tree was in memory of Deputy Jason Lee Bush, #319, End of Watch 4/29/19.

Over the weekend, our General Manager Chad, headed to Orlando, Florida to the Contractor Connection 2018 Top Performer Award Ceremony. We were awarded the Golden Hammer Award for making the top 200 contractors for Contractor Connection. Recently, Chad presented a K9 demo to kids in the St. Mary's County Public School Summer School Program. Here he showed them various techniques he uses with his dog to efficiently get them to complete certain tasks.

After trying to cook up a nice meal on the stove, this home found itself working with way too much heat. SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties arrived on scene to quickly and properly removed the soot that covered the walls and ceilings. This photo shows what the air vent looked like after the fire was extinguished, but to their luck SERVPRO was there to make it "Like it never even happened." 

Clogged drains can cause serious issues for your home. In this case, there was too much water trying to flow through the drain and with the outside debris the drain was clogged. The clogged drain left standing water on the outside of the basement entry way which then lead into the basement.

SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties was called when this family home had water damage in their bedroom after realizing their roof had damages to it. A tarp was used to help prevent water getting into their home, while we were called for immediate water clean-up. With our highly-trained technicians and equipment the bedroom was restored quickly.

When severe weather is on it's way, you want to make sure that you do not have objects around your home that are going to effect your home. For example, trees. It is important to trim dead or lose branches on the trees around your house so when strong winds blow, they do not knock into your home. If the tree is completely dead, have it removed. Would you believe that this carpet is actual a cream white and not a grayish brown? This family lives on a large farm here in St. Mary's County where they are always outside. When it rains things start to get muddy and wet, which then, are tracked inside. We were called to clean the mess because between the winter snow and spring rain this carpet has lost its color. After SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties treated their carpets, they finally had their color back.

This customer was experiencing water damage due to a frozen pipe burst.

An apartment complex in Lubsy, Maryland experienced a third floor sprinkler head break flooding first, second and third-floor apartments. Our team organized a construction schedule and coordinated with a drywall/paint contractor and a commercial carpeting contractor to undertake this reconstruction. It was important to work quickly and efficiently to get this building back in service. 

When this well-known school in Southern Maryland called for help when their facility started experiencing water damage, SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert County responded. We located the problem and immediately started to restore and repair. We had to remove the insulation and drywall from the affected area and above is an image of our completed installation of new insulation. Our reconstruction team worked quickly and efficiently to get school back up and running. 

This home in Dameron, Maryland called us when they realized that their shower in the upstairs bathroom was leaking into the ceiling of their kitchen. Having three boys at home on and off, the parents knew they were going to need their shower fixed in no time!

We always want to make sure our ladies in the office are recognized for their hard work and dedication to the job. A lot of their work is done behind the scenes but no doubt do their efforts show. Thank you Beth, Tracy and Kelley we could not do it without you all! 

During a fire in a Waldorf home, our crew was called in to service. Fire damage can sometimes be found in places you would not have thought of. Luckily, with the experise SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties has we were able to locate more soot damage that had creeped into the attic of the home. 

It is important that you check your smoke alarms at least once every couple of weeks to ensure they are working. A smoke alarm can save not only your home and valuables, but your life too. 

When a Hilton Garden Inn was having a water loss issue, SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert Counties was called in for help. Our crew worked day in and out to restore and repair this hotel. With the dedication and efficiency of our crew member, this hotel was back up and in business in no time. 

This family home had a fire that started in the bedroom and quickly moved throughout the home. Are team was called into service and we immediately began to salvage what we could. This picture shows the board up process, which is done in order to prevent any unwanted elements from entering the area and keep any items within the home safe. This process is to help prevent any further damage was happening. 

You may wonder what this piece of equipment really does on the side of your property. This here is a drain tile that was installed in a Brandywine home that was experiencing standing water and mold within their crawl space. The drain tile was installed to remove the excess water that was forming below the soils surface.

This is an image of a sump pump that was installed into a Brandywine home that was experiencing standing water and mold issues. Water will flow into the sump pump and its job is to pump the water out of the pit, away from the home, so that the crawl space dry and reduce the likelihood of mold. 

This home was experiencing heavy mositure which lead to the home being covered in mold. The walls, ceilings, floors and fixtures were all affected. Mold often has a strong odor and can be hazardous to your health. Immediate attention is adviced if mold is suspected.

After a terrible odor was left behind in Calvert Memorial, we used our Hydroxyl to eliminate the smell. When we got there the smell was unbearable but when we left the odors had left too.

Calvert County home builders were in the process of building a new home when water formed in the basement. SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert County responded immediately to remove the water and begin the drying process. Because the property was not locked up our equipment had to be secured with steel locks. 

Attached is a photo of the SERVPRO of St. Mary's County crew.  While the photos is missing our office manager Kelley Sampson, and our construction crew Van Todd and Jon Clopper Jr., it includes most Employees.  The photo also include future SERVPRO of St. Mary's County employee Archer Day!

This photos is a good example of equipment staging and preparation for a large fire restoration job.  The fire damage was cause by a lightning strike to the roof.  The lightning strike ignited the blown insulation in the attic.  there was extensive damage to the garage and laundry room portion of the home.  The remainder of the home was damaged by heavy smoke, downed insulation and water damage from the fire departments efforts to extinguish the fire.  Despite the heavy damage to the home, all occupants were able to evacuate safely.  SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert County received the call shortly after the home was cleared by the fire department.  After meeting the state farm adjuster onsite, SERVPRO crews mobilized with drying equipment, generator and cleaning supplies preparing to make it "like it never even happened".

At the 2018 St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and awards dinner SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert's owner, Sherry Whittles, received the prestigious "Business Person of the Year" award.  This award is presented to someone who has proven to not only be a successful member of the local business community but also a dedicated member of the chamber of commerce.  Sherry's dedication to the chamber has been apparent by donation of company assets to assist with chamber events, holding positions on two committees and being a founding member of the "Todays Connected Women" networking group.  The entire SERVPRO of St. Mary's and Calvert team is happy to wish Sherry a big congratulations!
