Common Water Damages Homeowners Experience

Here at SERVPRO of St.Mary's and Calvert Counties we see a lot of different water damages ranging from a small leak under the kitchen sink to a commercial water loss. Here are a few of the most common ones we see and some tips on how to avoid them.
- Washing machine hose burst. When was the last time you inspected your washing machine hose? Over time the rubber hose that connects to your washing machine eventually wears down and burst which leads to a water damage. A way to fix this is to upgrade your hose to a stainless steel reinforced hose.
- Leaky Roofs, your roof is exposed to the elements at all times and will eventually suffer some wear and tear. A great way to stay on top of this is to regularly inspect your roof especially after a storm for missing or damaged shingles.
- Refrigerator leaks, with refrigerators they also have a hose like washing machines, make sure those lines are unkinked and in good condition as well.
